Lucifer (the devil's name before he was cast out of heaven) decided he was not satisfied with his lot and wanted more. He saw God being worhsipped and adored by the other angels and wanted that for himself.

In Isaiah 14 is recorded his five statements that got him cast out of heaven. In verse 13: (1) I will ascend into heaven. (2) I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. (3) I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. Verse 14: (4) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds. (And in my opinion, the most damaging of them all) (5) I will be like the most High."

He wanted to be equal to God. Of course, being a created being with limited abilities and none of God's attributes, he could never accomplish that task. However, God could not allow sin to remain in heaven, and Lucifer's sin was PRIDE.

that strikes me as a very good point.God is merciful, forgiving as shown by Jesus.but he can,t or won,t admit he,s wrong.and ask for help.

Jon-Marc, you might find this thread thought provoking.

    Lucifer is satan ?

Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.
