without giving any personal opinion, Holy wars or crusades have been happening for a very long time, and some of the most atrocious acts have been committed in the name of religion.

Well Lambsy this may have happened more than 25 or 30 years ago. Now there are many churches in Egypt and in Alexandria a good percentage are Christians. Many in muslims Egypt are converting to Christianity now-a-days.

If you are talking about Iran or Saudi Arabia I can accept this happening 5 years ago. There are now what are called Muttawas who are the religious police who go around poking their nose everywhere. They are becoming less and less popular.

In Malaysia today muslim converts to Christianity are persecuted by the law of the land, and Malaysia is considered the most moderate tolerant of muslim nations.
Death threats and exile are the lot, for converts to Christianity in Malaysia.
Even today.

And no, Egypt still persecutes converts to Christianity today as well.

Lambsy I was born in Singapore but settled in Malaysia. Also I have been working in the middle-east for 23 years. I visit Egypt at least twice a year. I may not know everything but I know the general law and have many Christian friends in these countries. There are so many churches and hold water baptisms and conversions in public.

I know about the Govt. being against Christianity and conversions in Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Persecution goes on, but not by the authorities. Even in western world these persecutions go on even today. When the ordinary local Muslims are instigated by some Muttawa they do react in stray incidences. This happens everywhere.
