Question the writers about scripture ?
Question the writers about scripture ?
Recently in a discussion on James I felt that a lot of answeres can be gained in our interpreting of scriptures if we were to question the writers of scripture, with, "Why was this written ?" or" What question are you answering here ?" and or many simmilar questions. Because of this I am starting this thread to see if you have and what answer's you have got that have made scripture clearer as a result !
Here is what I found in James
I think if we use our immagination as to why James was saying this. Implied in his letter is that some were saying that they had faith, but would not even lift a finger to help a brother or sister in any way. Or at least something like that. Even apart from James we would be able to say that although they professed faith, their actions denied it. James is saying in effect if you are an apple tree you should bear apples. Actions can confirm, or or deny what I say or profess.. They are in themselves not nessesary, but acompany.
Col 2:8 -10 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
