    I use to think prayer was to change God's will towards me. I now believe prayer is to change us:

    Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

    Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.

    i believe we are left to chose our route.but i know God knows the outcome.

    The hardest part was for me to go through a trial and realize that prayer was to change me and that maybe I wouldn't get everything I want.

    I believe God has a perfect will and permissive will. We don't have to choose God's perfect will but there are life's electives and we can have life's electives for plan A or plan B. The mistakes I make time and time again is not going by God's perfect will because they are harder than His permissive will. Then I get life's trials which are harder than the trials in the perfect will.

    we are all very emotional people,we have a lot going on in life,to be perfect you would need to be a robot,and even then perfection would be unattainable.

    so we accept we are like this,and ask for help.

    our actions affect others,one man with a dream,could make 50 men oppressed.

    the truth is until we all come to the conclusion to love each other,the death toll rises.

    people can use religion for personal gain and political gain.

    people can pick bits out of scripture to justify themselves,or prove there worthy.

    so we patiently wait .

    I think this is one of the most difficult things to come to terms with - change of ourselves. Sometimes though God answers our prayers and helps us to change without our even realising it. It isn't until much later in the game that we look back at a situation and think, wow, I've changed totally the way I was thinking. To look ahead to change can be ascary thing but look back at it and we often see how things are actually much better when we have changed.

    Yes and no Cat and this is why it's so important to know you're Scripture.

    What I mean by that is, if you know Scripture and know in what context it means, then anyone can say anything they like but you will always know they are twisting it to suit themselves.

    But yes, many do do that and yes, many will fall for it if we don't know any different and yes, many do do that but no, it won't wash with someone who knows their Scripture.
    Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.

    But what is the point in knowing your scripture, if scripture is changeable as is being suggested? scripture has no foundation then?

    I don't believe scripture changes but I do think God changes our understanding of scripture to suit our circumstances, this is why the Bible is as relevant today as it was the dayit was written.
