Default Old Testament/ Grace / New Testament

Hi to all , and as a teenager I could not help , but notice the heading of Old Testament and then beginng in Matthew that it is now called the New Testament . This is the way that I see it !

1 ) The Old Testament begins in Genesis and ENDS in Acts !!

    2) Israel is set aside in 70 AD !!

    3) Then we have Romans thru Philemon and comprise the Grace message to all in the Body of Christ !!

    4) Then from Hebrews thru Revelation we have the New Testament !!

    5) Since I know that that we will have a lot of disagreement , be prepared to define what New Testament , what is also called the New Covenant and explain when it will be inoperation ????

    Default Two Covenenants

Two covenants, Covenant of works and the covenant of grace.

The bible tells us that no one is justified by the works of the law, so everyone who was ever saved was saved by grace.

Thus the two covenants have both been in operation since creation, but Christ had to come at some point and make the payment for these sinners who are saved by grace.

The covenant of works is a covenant between God and man where God says do this and live, but we fail.

The covenant of grace on the other hand is a covenant between God the Father and God the Son. Jesus Chrsit, God the Son fullfills all the terms of the covenant on our behalf. He lives the perfect obedient life for us and he also takes the punnishment for our sins.

The covenant of works is a failure in that we fail to keep the law.

But praise God that he has worked on our behalf.

    Romans 8:3

The Old testament is God's dealing with men through the law and where the law demanded sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin.

After a silence of 400 years the Bible (New Testament) reveals God reaching out to Man , not through the law but through the Grace in the person of Jesus Christ. The ultimate sacrifice for sin.

Israel could have been the main recipient of this new grace had they not rejected Jesus as their Messiah. However the New Testament is not about Israel or the church ( Old or New Convenants) it IS about Jesus Christ.
If we disagree , at least one of us is wrong!

Hi, do you have a verse for the Covenant of works and the Covenant of Grace , since you believe in Covenant Theology ?????

I have 2 verses in 2 different book that prove that Dispensations were FIRST , and can you do that ????

One question mark is sufficient, otherwise it looks like laying down a gauntlet, share with us what you have, this is not a competition.
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. ....................

Hi weareisaac , and when looking back , especially to Genesis 1:1and 2 , there are 2 important Greek words and these words are APO and PRO .

#1 , PRO means BEFORE the foundation of the world or before the overthrow of the world .

#2 , APO means FROM the foundation of the world or from the overthrow of the world , for those that believe in the Gap , between verse 1 and verse 2 .

    1) The first one is found in Eph 1:4 , " according as He hath chose ( or ELECTED us ) in Him PRO ( before ) the overthrow of the world .

This means that before He made the Universe or creation , He knew the Body of Christ and this is BEFORE any Covenant , agreement , contract, will , or compact with man .

    2) The second verse is in 2 Tim 1:9 , " which was given us in Christ PRO ( before ) the world began .

    3) But there is another Dispensation here , and that is the Dispensation of Angelic Testing , where Lucifer and those that followed him , fell .

    4) So we see that Dispensations really were FIRST and not the Covenant of , Works , Grace , or the ONE Gospel , that I see in all forums .

    What about:

May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep

    - Heb 13:20

This scripture calls the "new" covenant the eternal covenant
