Dear EddyBear , but my point is Jesus knew he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead so why would He be weeping for mary and martha ...and why if He wanted to prevent their distress did Jesus not heal Lazarus 2 days before lazarus,death. there must be a deeper meaning than that .

It really is more than empathy and cold heartededness , it was a sign to the people

This has been discussed many times on forums as a topic.
Why did jesus weep?

Psalm 116:15.Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

The Lord feels with us and shares with us how else could we have been given a heart to know the Lord and to have the love for others and God.
David it is said had a heart after Gods own heart. Lazarus was the sign of the resurrection of those who believed from dead. Christ knew he was going to die and it was to bring him glory when he raised him up. Not immediately after he died because Jews like Muslims are buried within a day of death. But clearly it was days later when Jesus raised him from dead. Note they said his body would smell by now. Notice that Lazarus though bound in grave clothes actually walks out of the tomb.

The sad thing is too many people today are looking for signs within the word and for truths within the biblical writings. But the truth is Jesus Christ himself.
The Lord Jesus said, " I am the way the truth and the life."
So when Peter preached to the gentiles in Acts 10:25-46 they believed in Jesus Christ and received the Holy Spirit.

John 16:13. (King James Version)
13.Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John speaks about the Spirit and he says in 1 John 2:27.

27.But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Today, not many men receive the inner teaching of the Holy Spirit.
Christ warns that though 10 virgins await the bridegroom and have their lamps lit. Only 5 are wise and buy more oil for their lamps and trim their wicks.
Too late when he returns to go and buy some because they realise they need it.

The Spirit was the reality that disciples knew and were reassured by, that those whose names are in the Lamb's book of the living are the only ones Christ would really know. What has this to do with Lazarus? The same has it had to do with Lazarus then, that those whom Christ knows will be raised up in the last day. The last times are important because people will go on marrying and living up to the last day before the judgement.

In Revelation 20 Christ returns for the first resurrection and regins 1,000 years whilst Satan is imprisoned. We see that he is then released and armaggedon takes places the final battle when God puts an end to Satan. A new heaven and a new earth. Are you ready and are you really indwelt by the Holy Spirit? Can you tell the difference. I am using this post to start a new thread. What are your answers?

Why if it was just to prevent the sadness of Mary and Martha Jesus could have healed Lazarus 2 days before he died

and

Why weep for someones death when you are about to raise him from the dead


I do not quite understand what you mean by some are seeking truths within the word for it tells us to study to show thyself approved of God a true workman that needeth not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth

The truth is indeed Christ Jesus but He also is the word , and is it not the role of The Holy Ghost to show us the things of Christ , He will show us the saints the things of Christ but we must be washed by the word

I would love to discuss all this with both of you, there is allot of truth to what your are saying, but some misunderstanding as well.
The problem is I feel that you are close friends and I'm not on this forum to hurt anybodies fellings. Maybe I'm to soft hearted but friendships that start through the love of Jesus mean allot to me to upset anyone. That is why I let some topic's go by because they seem to be to controversial. OF course I know your both not like that, Please excuse me, I starting to have some confusion problems with medications so If I sound stupid forgive me.

I'm really suprised at how caring people are on this Forum.
To be honest I am on another forum too, and people there are not very friendly at all, I hardly reply to anything there.

Mary and Martha never expected anyone to raise from the dead till Christ came to judge the living and the dead. The answer to the question is what the Spirit teaches.

You appear confused at what the bible teaches and Jesus.

First Jesus says,
John 6:63 (King James Version)

63.It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.


The Spirit gave Christ the words to Speak.
2 Peter 1:19-21 (King James Version)

19.We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20.Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21.For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Even the Prophets spake the scriptures only by the Spirit.

Luke 1:35 (King James Version)

35.And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

See why Christ is called the Son of God.

Christ tells us the Spirit will give us the Words to speak.
Then Paul teaches us.

Ephesians 6:17 (King James Version)

17.And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Jesus says the Spirit will lead us and teach us in all truth.

John 16:13 (King James Version)

Jeremiah 31:31-34 (King James Version)

God says his words will be written on our hearts, the Spirit is the circumcision of the heart. If you do not have the Spirit you do not belong to Christ and cannot know God.

Acts 8 Philip is spoken to by the Holy Spirit.

29.Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

Christ spoke Gods words as foretold by Moses in Deut 18. So if the Spirit is only speaking what he is given, then whos words is he revealing? How does this differ from what Christ spoke?

It was Gods will for Lazarus to die and be raised to bring Christ try and the Father. It does teach this in the bible. There is much in the bible and there is much people overlook. Like the fact the Spirit is not speaking of himself but only what he is given to speak.
