Unhappy

YIPES!!!* Well, I guess I believe that Jesus died once for all sin and nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.

However, I have been a Christian since I was a child and I have had more than a day or two in my life when I certainly was not "Christlike" or living a Christian life. (Think the 60's and Hippies)* I turned my back on Him but He never turned His back on me and when I sought Him He answered.*

We continue each day to choose Christ or the world, Christ or money...That is working out our salvation, I think. Some days we do better than others, but God knows what's in our hearts.

I have recently been out of touch with God, because I was pretty angry that I lost my father and then my husband within a year and I didn't think He was being very nice. It took time but guess what? He can handle me being angry and upset with Him and still He reaches out and pulls me up out of the deep hole I dug for myself as soon as I look up and ask Him to.
Pretty awesome if you ask me.

I guess what I am saying is that if anyone should've "lost" their salvation it should have been me, yet the Lord was always there waiting and ready to take this hard-headed,wondering sheep back into His fold.

dear gigi , amen , if saints do not believe that they are not eternally saved as of the time they believe in Christ as their Lord and savior , then
1..they have not read the message of the gospel of Christ given to Paul by Christ
1..they insult the blood and and cross by not believing it was a perfect sacrifice as full payment for "all sins".

Its Christs , work on the cross that gives us reconciliation and salvation so its Him not us that God is pleased with .

Its Hs goodness and faith that God sees not ours

Your witness s a powerful one gigi , bless you

And i always wait for an answer from them that say we have to endure to the end , I still dont know what I have to endure and if I believe that then at the end how will I know I have endured enough or not and how am I judged , because God tells me I am justification and sanctified and reconciled "now" once I have believed .....so who do you think I am believing ...?????

Dear gigi those two statements you have mentioned sounds like we stand on the same grounds. And we overcome our sins and be in His arms like a child who finds solace in a parents comforting arms.

No need of false doctrines and complications.... our relationship with be as simple as you have stated.. i liked that and thank you for the post and testimony gigi
Be Blessed

If we can lose our salvation off and on, depending on our repentance, then our names must be written in pencil in the book of life and not ink. God's eraser sure must have been busy.

But if we commit what the Catholics call "mortal sin", then we have lost our salvation, at least until we repent of it. I do not think it is possible for us to keep track of every last sin to the chinny chin chin, and then repent each and every time.

Also, Phillipians 1:6 (KJV) says this:

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

If God began a good work in us, then it will be completed until the day of Jesus Christ. It doesn't say that He will stop and start the good work again everytime fall into sin. Futhermore, it does not say that He will begin a good work in us and then quit for good if we happen to mess up.

I have the Holy Spirit living in me and I don't think I could commit "mortal" sin or fall into sin for good. I just do not think I could do that. When I do sin, I feel bad about it and ask for forgiveness. But when Jesus went to the cross to die for our sins, He paid them in full. Past sins, present sins, and future sins. If you truly have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside you, I do not believe you will even want to sin. It is hard for me to sin and enjoy it like I did before I was saved. Why is that? Because I don't want to sin. I want to serve the Lord and live for God.

Dave it wasn't easy for me like it was for you... somehow I tend to fall short here and there. I dont define sin into any category... for me even to tell a small lie is a sin equal to any other in the market except for blasphemy. I back slided twice .. and believe me Dave He was always there.. He didn't push me.. He had His way and He brought me back to the "right way". ( I must admit if smoking and having a drink now and then is a sin.. then I am still in the backslided state even now). I will not use this an excuse to continuing sinning but they things of this world my friend and I am living in it.. every second of it.

Is it that easy for an ordinary human to keep within the parameters until death do us part? If ya know a way give it to me.

I will come back on this later in the evening as I have some house errands to attend to.

Be Blessed As Always
JIP

Just as a side note here, do you guys know where the phrase "Once saved always saved", came from?

It was John Calvin. He taught that people were "predestined" to either be among the elect (those who will spend eternity in heaven)or the damned (those who will be punished for eternity in Hell). From that belief was derived the doctrine of "once saved, always saved."
Protestants who follow Calvinism teach that a person who is once saved will never lose their salvation. Their followers can relax in the security that they are certain to spend eternity in heaven. This is known among theologians as "inadmissible grace" (a.k.a. " unconditional perseverance" and "perseverance of the elect.")

The RCC taught that the believer is saved by grace from God through the power of the church's sacraments. But one's salvation is lost when a mortal sin is committed. One's salvation can subsequently be restored through the sacraments.

The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.

When we sin we loose the Joy of Salvation but not salvation. Once saved we can never be lost.

Sometimes we forget that when Jesus was talking to people he was still talking about the application of the law (the Old Covenant). When they sinned they had to offer a sacrifice to be forgiven. Jesus when he died did away with the sacrifices and gave one sacrifice for sin forever (the New Covenant).
