Why do demons try and buck us?

Why do demons try and buck us? They know they can't have us because we belong to Christ, so you'd think they would back off and not cause ruckus by trying to buck us.

That is what they excist for is to cause so much pain in our lives by depressing, oppressing and even if the can't win the war, they sure can win allot of battles. There would be no reason to attack lost people they all ready have them.

Dear Dave were they not defeated at the cross?
Were they not crushed under His feet?
Are we not cleansed by His Blood?

They were defeated to the point where they have no power over believers unless God gives them that power. Satan cannot get our souls since they belong to God. He can and will try to destroy our testimony, and I believe God uses them to test our faith and make us realize where we lack as he did with Job.

It is not necessary that I express my veiw on this topic. I was thrilled to read the replies of all of you, especially Jon Arc (sp?). Your replies affirm my own opinion which in turn, tells me that we are all being taught by the same Holy Spirit and, therefore provides me with encouragement.

I am also thrilled to have found this site and all of you. So far I haven't seen a contentious post...not even between those who hold opposing views. There is a passage of Scripture that comes to mind here and that is: "Inasmuch as you are able, be at peace with all men." Sorry I can't give the reference for this bit of Scriptural wiwdom.

If you are leading a Christian life and being an example to those around you of Christianity, you should not be surprised that you are beset by demons. The bible tells us not to be surprised by this and warns us to put on the full armor of God.
