| The word of God has always been the food of the soul. The Bible. Directs a christian for Life. John 8:31-32 Matt 7:24-27 & Psalm 119:105. A disciple of Jesus is recognised by his love and loyalty towards him. They obey all his commands which are unquestionable in the sight of a disciple and Jesus will not accept disciples who establish their own method of instruction or set their own course. The bible equips a Christian for the battle they will face. Matt 4:1-11 1 Timothy 1:18-19 Ephesians 6:17 As disiciples we all learn from Jesus who resisted the Devils temptations in the wilderness using his knowledge of scripture. Christ had a working knowledge of the bible which meant his knowledge was of spiritual power and benefit. Teaching his words were Spirit and they were life. Giving us knowledge that Christ did not just know scripture but had a working knowledge of it. A spiritually trained biblical mind is a powerful weapon when the person using the weapon is indwelt by Gods Spirit giving him the words. The bible also informs, develops, energises and corrects the believer. John 15:16 Isaiah 55:10-11 and Psalm 1. The bible is like water to the soul of a believer, renewing and refreshing them in their spiritual fight and service bringing the truth of Jesus to the world. Even when up against the world, the bible the living word of God in the Spirit will bring directions and renewed energy to go on in the face of the enemy at it's worst. In Isaiah 29:13 Mark 7:9-13 and James 1:23-25 we see how the bible correct believers. It exposes and corrects the errors and distortions of true belief. There is the legalist - the victim of convention; the empty ritualist, the victim of superstition, the traditionalist- the victim of pride,; the victim of rationlist- the victim of unbelif; and the mere theorist-the victim of laziness. We should always look to the bible and not other men to correct our own wrong ideas and to replace them with Gods truth. 2 Tim 2:15 1 Corinthians 14:20 and 1 Peter 2:2-3 As believers we are strengthened by the word of God it is food to our sould and it nourishes as children it is like milk for all believers as we head into spiritual maturity eating meat. Romans 11:33-36 2 Tim 3:14-15 psalm 119:162. The bible is Gods own revelation of knowledge to man. We cannot arrive at the true knowledge of his plans without having studied the word of God. The bible keeps believers from being in the dark about who God is or what he is doing. One must be balanced in the diet in that the whole bible needs to be read so we do not distort or over emphasise any aspect of his message. As a teenager I remember the chapter and verse Christians who readily quoted scripture but not all had the knowledge of what those scriptures actually taught. Belief that is sincere is a very important part of learning scripture. And no man who does not love his brother really knows God. Those who do not know Christ are really scattering not drawing together. And mens hearts can so easily follow flesh. Once Eve heard the words of Satan, she did not think to compare the fact how long she had known God or how good he had been to her. She turned her back and believed the evil whispered in her ear by the serpent. Were her actions based on the truth of what she knew and had learned about God? No they were based on the fact someone had lied to her, the serpent made her believe a lie and because it was putting God as a baddie denying her the good things as she saw it. She did wrong. False prophets sound and look good to the untrained ear and heart. Make sure you know the difference about whose word your rejecting and what truth is real. Faith.xx
