Default Boot sale tale

I'll often go to boot sales - trunk sales I think they call them in the States, and always look out for walking sticks which I bring back home, sand down and then donate to the local hospital.
This occasion was no different bar one thing - as I neared a burger stall to buy myself a beefburger and a cup of coffee, on seeing me with a walking stick, one bloke quite literally jumped out of his chair and said:
"Sit here, Sir. Tell me what you want, I'll bring it to you."

Such courtesy - I could have died with embarrassment!

That's nothing compared to what happened in St. Peter's Square a few years back.
A group of disabled people were being taken for a Papal blessing one Easter when one of the helpers decided to take a well earned rest. The only available seat was a spare wheelchair. About a minute later, somebody grabbed his chair and despite his protests wheeled him out to the Pope who looked at him a bit puzzled but nevertheless gave him a blessing! After he was wheeled back a few minutes later when he thought nobody was looking he stood up. As he did so, about a dozen or so onlookers dropped to their knees and crossed themselves! Not being able to speak a word of Italian, he beat a hasty retreat! His story was in the papers. He said:
"I immediately wrote to the Pope explaining the misunderstanding, but the tragedy of it, is to their dying day, those people will bear witness to the fact that a miracle took part on that day." Proof that God certainly does have a sense of humour!
