Yikes! Sounds awful...I have not experienced anything like it. I think for it to be shingles, they would be painful, but I am not certain.
I have a problem and hopefully, some of you here may have a remedy.
Sunday I noticed a small bump above my lip...later in the day I noticed a few more small bumps beside my nose. Monday my face was becoming swollen and I thought....poison ivy! I've had it before but this time it didn't itch. Tuesday my face and glands on the right side of my face were swollen, red and yukky! I took Benadryl, still thinking it must be poison ivy. Wednesday I caved in and went to the Dr. He gave me a shot of something??? and Hydroxyzine to take three times a day. So far, Friday and....nothing. Still a swollen face, only on one side. My lip is swollen, but only on one side, my eye is tight. A few blisters in the red patches appear to now have scabs over them.
All in all......I'm a sight for sore eyes! Someone I work with said I look like the elephant man...Well, after smacking him I had to admit....I do. Although it doesn't itch terribly...it draws. Cold compresses are all that relieves it. Since the Dr. wasn't a great deal of help I searched the net....it sounds like either hives from an allergic reaction or, as it's only on one side of my face....shingles. Some of the home remedies are to put cornstarch, milk of magnesia or aloe on it.
Any other suggestions? Has anyone every gone through this?

I think this could be a miriad of things, from bites to thyroid, excma to sarcoid.... I suspect it will go away by itself tho
I dont know anything about poison ivy, we dont get it in the UK (to my knowledge)
Poor you, its horrid when things like this come up on your face
Since it is effecting your glads, I think Gibby may have a point about shingles.

I would advise going back to your GP, I know he didn't get it right the first time but they are human and can't always get thing right the first time. It is also possible that he was torn between two diagnoses and went for the wrong one the first time. I know it is frustrating but I would advise persevering with GP treatments than home remedies. Home treatments can often make things worse or allow something to become worse because it isn't being treated correctly. I hope it soon start to improve because it sounds awful for you.
God's promises never fail
I want to thank all of you for your response.
I took two Advil, put olive oil on the affected area and prayed.
A few hours later...the swelling is GONE! It doesn't tingle or burn anymore. It still looks terrible as the scabs from the blisters are there but...no swelling, no tightness and no pain.

Sounds very much to me like you were bitten by something and whatever the Doc gave you worked as an anti_histamine. I walked through a spiders web once, you know one of these annoying little things you walk through, maybe between two hedges and a gate. Never thought anything of it, just wiped it away. Within an hour my lip started to swell and I had all the symptoms you mention. Told my Doctor where it started and he spotted the tiniest little mark on my bottom lip. It was only then that I actually remembered walking through the web and he said, yep, you've had a nasty little bite off a spider. Never knew these little spiders could bite actually.
Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.
I had some weird sores, swelling, scabbing over, and swelling on my face last year and it was diagnosed as cellulitis and treated with antibiotics and an ointment but that was me. My doc took good care of me but if I wasn't able to find resolution I would have gone to a dermatologist at a good facility.
God bless.
