I heard this this afternoon Lily, I was really horrified.
I don't suffer myself but have worked with those that have and just can not imagine why anyone would want to do it and those that pay to watch are beyond comprehension.
As an epilepsy sufferer myself, I am both horrifed and offended by this.
This is just the newspaper report. When interviewed this morning on radio 4, the manager of the theatre staging this dreadful event, all in the name of art, explained how this so called " artist " would not only be withdrawing her medication but would be doing her best to induce siezures with other things such as strobe lighting.
I'm absolutely horrified. I'm also horrified that people will actually pay to watch this and will be encouraged to film the siezures on their mobile phones.

This is a disgusting thing to do. The person 'selling themself' obviously has very little self esteem and I can't even begin to find words to express my feelings about the 'artist'. If this is the best they can do then it would appear they are in need of new direction.
God's promises never fail
selling yourself is not foreign,,, its just what you sell ,, if it's marketable someone will do it.

Whats next ? Paying to watch someone induced a coma ? Someone having a heart attack ?
This isn't education, this is just complete Voyeurism.
It's also very, very dangerous. I suppose if this so called artist goes into status epilepticus, she'll expect the best from our already overworked emergency services ?

Why be offended? It is just performance art and a questionable way to promote awareness of epilepsy. I would not do it nor support anyone else doing it. But, this person is imposing nothing upon me so I take no offense.
I am probably wandering a bit, but there is a comedienne going about only known becuase of cerebal palsy, I have watched and ,, I have not laughed, she is just not funny (IMO).. there is also another comedienne going about who makes no reference to cerebel palsy (she suffers with it),,, and she is v ery very funny,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, comedy,, art,,,, music,,,,, can only be accepted if its more than just you and your probs . (does that make sense)

Epilepsy isn't an art, it's a serious condition. The possibilities are endless as to how someone, everytime they have a siezure, are changed, from brain damage, permanent or temporary, to death, these are risks anyone with epliepsy has hanging over them everyday...I know as I've lived with it most of my life and I take offense that those very serious possibilities hanging over me are being treated as art.It is just performance art
Beats me why anyone would want to even watch someone having a siezure, let alone pay to see it.
