    Default Sads

My Daughter in laws Sister was a lively, fit adult. No history of any serious family illnesses.

She'd spent a lovely day on the beach with the family. Went home and went to bed as usual, fit and heathy.
Her telephone was ringing and ringing. Her Mother wondered why she wasn't answering and went in to wake her.

    Natalie was dead. 23yrs old.

The post mortem showed nothing of any real concerns, which means if she was alive and went to the Doctors for a routine health check, they would have declared her fit and well.

The whole family was throughly tested for " anything " and my Daughter in law was found to have Long QT syndrome and had a pacemaker and defibrillator fitted when she was 14.

This is what must have killed Natalie they now feel.

Sudden arrhythmia death syndrome is as common as cot death in babies yet recieves virtually no media coverage.

Please take a look and be aware of this awful thing. You could save a life oneday. Thankyou

If any of you in the UK have an opportunity to glance the magazine that comes with the Sunday people, my Daughter in Law Nicki is relating the story of finding Natalie dead.
Quite a few things the Journalist got wrong with the article but the gist of it is there.

Nothing to do with spirit wars Cat

Just age of Natalie, time span between Natalie dying and Nicki having her pacemaker/defibrillator fitted, Nicki having a baby Brother when he's older, the circumstances of how Natalie was found. Just things like that

Thankyou, had a little cry today reading it and Nicki ended up comforting me. Should have been the otherway round considering it was her Sister

    Thankyou, kind of you.

She works for the SADS charity in trying to raise awareness of this as it effects many, many young people and the awful thing is, there are few warning signs. Outwardly fit young people just drop dead.
A Welsh footballers Son, Terry Yorath, died at 15 while playing football in the garden suddenly. Recently, we heard of the death of Steven Gately from Boyzone dying in his sleep at 32.

She is trying to raise awareness and money to get defibs put into schools. They aren't the huge things that you see in hospitals, they are very small and teachers at the schools can be trained in a single afternoon to use one, just enough to restart a heart again until medics arrive.
Drawback is, they are over £20,000 each and government won't even consider helping. The SADS charity is entirely dependant on charitable donations.
Wonder how long it would take politicians to put them in schools if their children started dying ( Please God they don't ).

Next charity event is Feb 13th, a charity auction, raffle and night out and I am on facebook as we speak sweet talking someone who has her own travel company, hopefully talking her into donating a weekend away so Nicki can auction it off.

    Pray I can do it
