| Christian-Themed Thriller "House" Receives "R" Rating Roadside Attractions presents House, a Christian-themed supernatural thriller based on the novel written by New York Times Bestselling Authors Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti. The film descends into theaters nationwide on Nov. 7. The film has received a controversial R rating from the MPAA, and with more than 350,000 books sold, the highly anticipated film is creating a buzz around the country from Dekker and Peretti fans anxious to see the movie version of this bestseller. In fact, fans are already rushing to check out the film's Facebook page. Mel Gibson's multi-million dollar blockbuster The Passion Of The Christ (2004) has been the only Christian-themed film to date to be released with an R rating until now. Due to terror and some violence, House received the controversial rating, something that has shocked the film's producers. Read the rest of the story here FINALLY!! I have read the book and have been looking forward to seeing this movie ever since hearing about it in 2006. I'm not sure I agree with the ratings board reason for giving the "R" rating, because there have been plenty of movies with terror and violence that were rated PG-13, but I will still see it, regardless. | "House" comes to theaters this Friday. I doubt our theater will ever have it, but here's hoping (They have yet to get "Fireproof", although the movie theater in Sterling is trying to get it.) Varlen (The VMan)

| Has a sort of foreigner, What constitutes an R. rating? I am guessing at Restricted but what are the restrictions?

G= General Audience PG= Parental Guidance PG-13= Parental Guidance suggested for ages 13 and under. R= Restricted for ages 17 and under. Anyone under 17 are not allowed to view movies with such ratings. I'm not sure but I think theater owners and any rental or retail stores are leagally obligated to NOT allow underage children to view or purchase such material without parental permission. The sad part is that parents DO allow their underage children to view such movies, and also rent and buy video games that are M (Mature) rated. I'm not even sure how many parents actually use the ratings and content descriptors to make the decision to prohibit their kids from viewing these movies or playing these games, although I know there are a few in this town that do.
