What kind of movies do you prefer?

This is a discussion on What kind of movies do you prefer? within the Talk Movies forums, part of the Media and the Web category; I think the correct way to phrase that is 'movie genre'..... I love war movies and long drawn out epics....

Comedies....because you come away with a happy feeling. I also love those kids movies that have kid jokes, but adult jokes for their parents chucked in as well, like Bee Movie and Shark Tale. All time favourite though is the Narnia movies. Mainly because I'm such a huge fan of the books.

I used to watch a lot of kid movies while my kids were young. Now I don't have anyone around who wants to watch them with me. Guess I'll have to wait until the Grandkids get older.

I like allsorts of films;
sci -fi,(but not star trek purleeese)
thrillers,
Hitchcock style, film noir, Horror films (not slasher type horror films)
martial arts films like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon....
documentaries/serious stuff.

I like kids stuff, especially the new generation of animated ones like Shrek, Open Season, Over the Hedge etc.

OK, so I'm a big kid, but they're fun!

It's gotta be religious epics, especially those starring Charlton Heston. I like musicals like The Sound of Music with Julie Andrews, and a good war film.
A mate told me he came home from work once and found his wife and daughter bawling their eyes out. In between sobs, they told him:"Its, Lassie - she came home - Waaa!" I suppose they are designed to tug on the heart strings. Actually one of the most moving films I ever watched was the animated version of Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince. Especially the ending - it brought a lump to my throat, and I'm a bloke!

Do you get TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network) over there? They play the old religious movies all the time late at night. They have some great movies on there!

Now what's wrong with Star Trek? I love it (I even wrote a script for "Deep Space 9" but never submitted it), and can't wait to see the new Star Trek movie, which was supposed to come out around Christmas, but I think that has changed.

I too like all kinds of movie genres, but prefer Sci-Fi and Action above all else.

Although they aren't making too many good Sci-Fi movies lately, at least not like they used to.

But hopefully that will change.
