Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. ....................
Just got back from seeing "Prince Caspian" . Awesome movie. A little "darker" than the first and they took some liberties with the story, a little, but is one I will, definitely be going to see again (as soon as I get paid again.)

Went to see the new "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". It was good (maybe not as good as some of the others), but I don't think I liked the premise (a little more sci-fi than historical or biblical).
Taking place in 1957, Indy is forced to help the Russian military to recover a mysterious artifact, that has ties to the Crystal Skull, which, if returned to it's resting place, would grant power to the restorer. Along the way he meets "Mutt" Williams, a young man who has two mutual acquaintances to Indy, who helps Indy search for clues in finding El Dorado, the famed Lost City of Gold. It's a race against the Russians to get to El Dorado and uncover it's secrets.
The Ark of the Covenant made a cameo appearance, and the return of Marion Ravenwood was good. I liked "the" ending, such a happy occasion and an inkling of a new generation "Indy".

My kids have plans to go see this movie over the weekend. I'm not even sure they saw the other ones since they were real young when the movies first came out.
Can they follow the movie line without knowledge fo the first movies or should they rent them and then see the new one?
About the time I get on my high horse, Jesus comes riding in on a donkey.
It is a stand alone movie, but it might help to have some rudimentary knowledge, at least of "Raiders of the Lost Ark". If they at least know what IT was about, some of the things in "Crystal Skull" would make some sense. But it is not necessary for them to see the other movies first. It should be good to go back afterwards, and see what brought these characters to this point.

The wife and I are going to watch the new Indiana Jones movie tomorrow night. I will let you know how it is.
Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Now that our store is open again, I was able to rent some fairly new and upcoming new releases.
"Untraceable" with Diane Lane, about a "cybercrimes" investigator with the FBI who is trying to track down a criminal who is broadcasting torturous murders over the internet, where the more people who log on to watch, help kill the victims faster. Avoid this one if you are opposed to graphic depictions of murder.
"Ace Of Hearts" with Dean (the Superman) Cain as a K-9 officer, whose love of his partner, Ace, makes him ignore his wife and daughter. That is until Ace is accused of attacking a man and is forced to be put down. The daughter is convinced that Ace is innocent and investigates the truth, only to find out that Ace escaped and is on his way home. Definitely one to watch. Dean's character, even quotes Jesus (awesome). It is based on a true story that was published in "Reader's Digest".
"The Eye" with Jessica Alba is a remake of a Chinese horror movie about a blind woman who receives a cornea transplant only to discover that she can see dead people. It is scary in places, but the ending was really good.
SpoilerJessica Alba's character, Sydney, finds out that the woman whose eyes she has, was able to see people who were going to die before it happened. So when she and the guy she's with get to the Mexico/USA border crossing, she realizes that some of her visions were for this moment and she ends up saving all the people she saw in her visions, but ends up losing her sight again. So sad.

Added two Christian movies to my collection:
"The Wager" stars Randy Travis as an actor who is struggling in his life in the midst of an Academy Award nomination. The director of the movie he is shooting wants him to compromise his moral integrity, his wife is leaving him and seeking a divorce due to his neglecting her, the media is creating a scandal over a misunderstanding, and other things. The entire movie is centered around the sermon on the mount and his trying to find out how to live according to Jesus' principals. It was good, but I think that Randy Travis may not have been the best choice for the lead role (He was good in "The Visitation", but not very well suited for this role.)
"The Final Inquiry" is about a Roman investigator, sent to find out what happened to the body of Jesus, shortly after His death. Along the way, he meets, and falls in love with a Jewish woman, who is a follower of "The Way". Some of the prominent, Biblical figures are present: Peter, Steven (his stoning is depicted), Saul (Paul before his encounter with Jesus on the road), Lazarus (who is mentioned and shown in a flashback scene, where he is raised from the dead), etc. This movie was good, but not so great as some other Biblical epics I've seen (It did remind me, a little, of "The Robe").
