ascending and descending angels

Jhn 1:51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

Was this to be taken literal, did the apostles see heaven open and angels ascending and descending on the Son of man or was this to bring us to Jacobs vision?

Gen 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

Is this another picture of Jesus, our way to heaven?

In french version, I've got this footnote :

which can be translated like this :

Is this another picture of Jesus, our way to heaven?

Jay Dub, I think maybe it means that. Angels were the divine messengers but then the Lord Jesus became the One who would reveal heavenly things to people, John 3:12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

and He is now the point of contact between heaven and earth. As He said nobody comes to the Father except by Him.

Why in Jacobs vision were the angels "ascending and descending" and not "descending and aascending" ???

I have never worked it out.
