Let get back to basics
In six days God created the heaven & earth and everything in them. On the seventh day God rested from creating.
Gen 1 v 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
When God made man he had no "Work" to do. After the fall when the curse came man had to work.
Gen 3 v 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
There is no mention here about only having to work six days.
The first instruction not to work comes in Exodus 12:16 On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat—that is all you may do.
In the Old Testament people enjoyed forgiveness through the sacrifices which they made. Not through their works. These sacrifices had efficacy because they looked forward to the sacrifice of Christ.
In the same way they enjoyed the rest of the Sabbath on ONE day each week. This also looks forward to the continuous rest we have continually in Christ (spiritually speaking). They had to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. To the believer, since the death of Christ, every day is already holy.
If we disagree , at least one of us is wrong!
