Default The temple of the Holy Spirit

Actually this is a fascinating subject it takes us into the realm of the temple of the Holy Spirit. The original temple of Solomon was a triune temple consisting of the outer court, the holy place and the holy of holies. People had to leave the world outside the temple, hence Jesus turning out the money lenders and sellers of sacrificial animals. The outer court was a place of preparation before entering the holy place in the right frame of mind to worship. Only the high priest was allowed to enter the Holy of Holies to commune with God.
Man is a triune being and as such is called the temple of the Holy Spirit.
    1 Cor. 6:19 (ANIV)
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; The Temple of Solomon was fashioned after the Temple of the Holy Spirit. The temple of the Holy Spirit, like Solomon’s temple, has an outer court, a Holy place and the Holy of Holies. The outer court is the flesh, the Holy place is the soul and the Holy of Holies is the spirit. The flesh is represented by the senses, taste, touch, smell, hearing and sight. With these senses, we enjoy and experience creation and the delights of the world. The soul is represented by our intellect, emotions and will; with these we feel reason and act. The spirit consists of our conscience, intuition and communion, through which we interact via the Spirit with God. Our conscience keeps us aware of our standing before God, at times chastising and others approving, our intuition coveys what God wishes us to know, it supersedes reason, which is why it confounds the world, and then there is our communion that we receive as an entitlement as a royal priesthood in the Holy of Holies.
As in Solomon’s temple, we have to approach God one step at a time, first we have to subdue the flesh whose constant appetite cries out to be satisfied. Having done this, our soul is free to be mindful of things spiritual. As we cleanse our thoughts and begin to worship, we as royal priests are elevated to the Holy of Holies where we are immersed in the Spirit of God. This is not an in depth study of the subject, and may well be lacking substance, but I’m sharing it to whet our appetite to encourage us to delve deeper into a subject that can enrich us spiritually.
