Good profound question Wabco.
Must admit to having a little bit of a love affair with mirrors myself but I shall ponder your ponderings and get back to you![]()
Got a question, sounds so simple but something I often ponder.
Is it sinful to get your hair done (coloured) it is not cheap at the hairdressers, and I feel guilty when I do go.... when people are starving and children have no shoes on their feet.
Am I being unchristian spending money on myself, which is just vanity, when people are going without? Jesus said the poor you will always have with you...does that justify it?
When I see women on the TV on God channel and the like, they all have their hair done....are we all fooling ourselves, will God judge us for spending money on vanities when we die?

Psalm 16:5-7
Friends are like stars ~ even when you can't see them they are still there.

Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.
My wife colours hers herself with a home kit.
guilt is a snare of the devil.its the ***** governments that should feel guilty.i watched a show about a village in africa,1 town an abundance the next town(refugees)starving, the aid they got was from the west.they won,t even give to there neighbours there, this little thing called money and power gets in the way.i say get it dyed.no problem.

its higher powers that feed or starve there people.don,t feel guilty by what an oppressor does to them.
I'll try to ease your conscience a little.
I got a new car a few years ago and I wanted to give it away. There was someone at work who didn't have a car and I asked him what he was going to do with it and he said, "sell it". I use to give them rides but they spent their money they would have used on the bus on alcohol instead and they were always begging for small loans because they were always broke.
I was a contractor for one of these big companies and their workers were buying expensive pens for their office and things they didn't need. When their coporation's money ran out, they cited that these workers were making themselves more important than they were by buying these items.
There are wonderful Christian organizations where you can sponsor a child and buy the family an animal. I often wonder if they are having more children because we're either helping them or providing them a way to have more children and I think of the office worker with the ten dollar or five pound pen on their desk or my co-worker who just wanted a car to sell instead of drive.
The poor have you with you always because man is greedy. They will waste what is given to them and even if you help someone there isn't a system in place to help them long term. People want to help in Haiti but the help is bottlenecked at the airport with no way to get out because initially there was no system in place so giving may help in the long term but the money doesn't do anything if the help sits at the airport.
A lot of charities took money after 9-11 to upgrade their phone systems and those who needed it didn't get it. How much is wasted by paying telemarketers and administration? I know some missionaries who are doctors but they were driving new cars and asking at my church for money. Who were driving the cars when they were overseas? Were they someone else's cars. I don't really have all of the answers but a lot of emphasis is placed on the man who can't afford it to give and if things aren't improving then you have to ask a lot of questions.
If you earned that money then you have already helped starving children by producing far more in goods and services than you were paid in wages. If you did not earn the money, then I would say you should feel guilty spending a large amount of money on your hair.
Using your money on your hair does not produce a burden on others, so you are clear there, too. Compare to if you wanted to buy a big, expensive SUV. I think it is a sin to drive a big SUV because doing so creates a burden on others. You increase the chances of harming others in a car wreck. You create more pollution. You drive up the price of gas for other drivers because fuel is a limited resource.
I suppose it really does depend on how you channel you're money, how important something is to you and juggling things around to try and keep things sensible. If you did not earn the money, then I would say you should feel guilty spending a large amount of money on your hair.
Won't bore anyone with the details now but I went through a very traumatic time concerning my hair and I do pay a small fortune to make sure it doesn't happen again by getting the best attention I can. But that doesn't mean others go without.
eg : my hair needed doing, My Son and Daughter in law having trouble paying their gas bill.
No contest, gas bill got paid, Mum didn't have her hair done.![]()
