We have been brainwashed by some preacher, into thinking that if we give a tithe (10%) then that is all we have to give. The tithe was an old Testament principle. The new testament teaching I believe is that ALL we have belongs to God and he has loaned it to us to use for His Glory and for the extention of His kingdom.
If we disagree , at least one of us is wrong!
You know, as simple as BB's comment was, it's made me think, so I am going to be a little pedantic here. Lily pendantic ? I hear you ask,,, well I don't hear you actually, cos this is a forum,,, but Lily pedantic ? Surely not ?
What about when someones hair changes colour ? Can that still be classed as the colour God gave you ? Or the colour God gave you that was meant to change to another colour ?
God originally gave me very dark brown hair, after I got married, it started to change grey but by 2001, I was completely white.
But don't tell anyone Lilies hair is vegatable based coloured will you ?
Must put my before pics up here to show you the totally different woman I was.

Paying for hair coloring gives someone a job and they can put food on the table and provide for themselves and their families. I'm probably sure there is a Christian employed somewhere by these companies.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
When is the last time you heard a sermon about work from Proverbs or from 2 Thessalonians 3:10?
I went to the post office in a run down neighborhood and a lady was asking me for food but she didn't want a hotdog from the corner store. She just wanted me to give her money. She said it was too hot to walk to the local supermarket but that didn't stop her from standing on the corner. I'm not about to give people money and I figured she was on drugs because if she was hungry she would have accepted anything.
thats a point lily, was your ex sucking your energy from you.?to go grey.?![]()
i know the feeling i,m going grey, wife goes from strength to strength.i have no energy she has lots.![]()
Does it bother you at all Cat ? I mean, sometimes it's not about vanity as such is it ? well, I don't think so, not all the time at least.
It's funny you know but I think men going grey makes them look distinguished, women going grey don't feel the same.

funny thing vanity,i have a suspicion people gain energy by there attractiveness,ie lust .from others.depends i suppose,if your looking for a partner these days its like a compitition.nothing wrong with looking presentable, depends on your motives i suppose.
every girl wants a certain look,in a man.status etc.
to gain what they want they change to that look.
there is a good song which is poinant,"fake".
i imagine men do the same, probably in a lesser way.
I would agree. Although not to sure it's necessarily entirely a vanity thing. I suppose it's all about how you would define energy really. Many times I think it's more to do with a self esteem thing rather than vanity.funny thing vanity,i have a suspicion people gain energy by there attractiveness
You know, I once worked with a lovely girl in the hospital who had this thing about her big nose. Looked normal to me, was huggggggggge to her and it was really making her feel down. To her everyone who looked at her was immediately thinking, " Ooo look at that girls big nose ". Her nose was the reason actually that she applied to work in theatres because she could hide behind a mask.
Anyway, she paid to have a rhinoplasty ( nose job ) and when she came back to work, you wouldn't beleive the change in her. She was still the lovely girl she always was, just so much happier and confident.
It made me think you know about plastic surgery. That if someone is that effected by something and nothing anyone tells them about not noticing makes the slightest bit of difference and it gives them some self esteem back, then whats the harm ?
I know hair colour is different but for me, the story is basically the same, it gave me some self esteem and I will be honest and admit, that looking back with hindsight, I think it was a conscious effort to change but nothing to do with vanity, it was a decision I made in the hope he would stop hurting me. In my mind you see, it was my fault, he hurt me because I was very overweight with short grey hair. I now know different, it was nothing to do with me, the problem lay with him but I will also be honest and admit that It did give me a boost when my hair got me some attention, nothing to do with lust, just a feeling of,, " Oh, I do exist then ".
Know what I mean ?
