God told the truth, like He always does, when He said in Gen. 2:17 that Adam would die.
[“but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”]
Satan, in Gen. 3:4, lied like he always does, when he said they would not die; [“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die”]

It’s really a shame that more people believe Satan than God.
I guess we shouldn’t be surprised though, God tells us in 2Cor. 4:3-4 that the god this world blinds people from the truth and again in Rev. 12:9 that Satan deceives the whole world.
Many people believe that everyone will receive God’s gift of eternal life no matter what they do. That is simply not true.
The Bible, however says in Jo. 3:16 and in Ro. 6:23 that some will perish, or die.
The death of the wicked is spoken of throughout the Bible, yet some won’t believe it. They think that everyone will gain eternal life; some to a good place and some to a bad place.
We can’t earn eternal life for anything we do. We don’t deserve eternal life. God’s grace makes it possible.
There is nothing we can do in one life time that deserves being punished forever, any more than there is anything we can do it one life time that deserves being in God’s Kingdom forever.
The punishment of the wicked is eternal; that is, eternal punishment not eternal punishing. What an evil monster God would be if He allowed people to be punished forever, for what they did during only one life time.

Thank God that is not in His plan!

My dear RibI can you please clarify the last paragraph in you posting difference between mainly 'eternal punishment and eternal punishing'

'The punishment of the wicked is eternal; that is, eternal punishment not eternal punishing. What an evil monster God would be if He allowed people to be punished forever, for what they did during only one life time'.

we are very unsure of what others are doing.satan rebelled and tried to become God.i would not make any statement about what people deserve,God knows and will set the punishment.personally i would remove good from evil and let them fight themselves in a remote place set aside for them.then people will realise how bad life without God would be.can you imagine a life without anything Good.that would be hell.

I am going to stick my neck out with what some think is away of target.

I believe that when Jesus died on the cross he forgave ALL sin except what the bible talks about the unforgiveable sin. Jesus said "Father forgive them they do not know what they are doing". That to me goes beyond the soldiers. I believe that the unforgiveable sin is to reject Jesus as Saviour. People will end up in the Lake of Fire because they have rejected God's salvation Jesus and not because of the sin they committed on earth.

Those who repent of sin and accept Jesus will be in Heaven no matter what sin they have commited. It is forgiven.

I know that many will disagree with me but I think the bible supports my point of view.

YOu are absolutely right Bloodbought when Christ died he
fully redeemed mankind .. God no longer judges us on sin, but on whether we believe on His Son as Our savior , it is that simple , it is based only on our acceptance on Him and I will be even more controversial it does not depend on our repentence of sin as you put it because that is Adamic and we are in Christ a new creation .That is what religion does tries to changethe "old man "that is not the Gospel of grace where we are new creations in Christ

I remember a lesson I learned years ago form the book of proverbs about forgiveness waiting and forgiveness wanted.

God has forgiven all our sin (even unbelievers) but until we confess our sin we cannot enjoy the blessings of that forgiveness in our lives. That's where repentance comes in. Unconfessed sin comes between us and God.

While Jesus PAID the price for everyone's sins, not everyone is forgiven. We are only forgiven when we ASK for forgiveness.
