^But your belief is that if I don't find Jesus I will go to hell, even if I help old ladies across the street every day and travel across the world alleviating world poverty?

Or will there be a period after death where I have a chance to find Jesus?

The Bible tells us it's a gift from God it's not our woks that will save us from hell. If you read Ephesians 2:8-10 it will give you my answer

Dear SD exactly but that is because it avoids pride and self righteousness , because Of what Jesus physically accepted on our behalf we are saved , you see he has paid the account for mans sin in full and all you have to do is believe in Him , that is the only criterion for anyones salvation and eternal security

Well said ONI. God is a just God amd must punish sin. The bible says we have all sinned. We have all broken God's law in some way. God, being a loving God, does not want us to be seperated from Him so he sent Jesus to take our punishment so that we could get to Heaven. BUT because we sinned willingly we must acdcept God's salvation willingly. God will not force us to accept Jesus Christ as a sacrifice fro our sin. If we do accept them oiur sin will be forgiven. We will be Holy and righteous in God's sight and will be in Heaven with Hom for all eternity. The decision is ours.

God said that "All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags." Isaiah 64:6. It is the righteousness of Christ and His sacrifice on the cross that provides a way for us to escape eternity separated from Him.

We cannot work or earn our way into heaven since we would have to live a sinless and perfect life, but then we don't have to since God has provided all that is needed for us to stand before Him clean and pure. Once a person is saved from sin, he will desire to please the Lord and live for Him. If he doesn't have that desire, he was never saved in the first place. It doesn't matter how good we are (or think we are); God demands absolute perfection, and He has made that possible.

It is not God's will for anyone to die in their sins, and "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"--Romans 3:23). We are all born with a sin nature, but God will forgive us if we come to Him in humbleness and repentance and ask for it. He can't be fooled by a fake repentance and confession, because He knows the heart and thoughts of everyone.

He cannot and will not allow unrepentant sinners into His presence, and He will not save anyone who doesn't repent and ask for His forgiveness,

^So if I die...right...now...I'm in hell?

Ahhh well, you can't win them all. Thanks for the clarification.

It's not as if I think I'm closing my mind to him. In all honesty, I want there to be a God I can believe in. But my inner logic tells me he doesn't exist, and there's no point pretending to believe in God when in your heart of hearts you don't.

Sine Deus

Ask God to prove to you that he exists. If you dare.

^Well, assuming this is what you mean, I just said out loud 'God, prove to me that you exist.' And then I repeated it with some enthusiasm.

Nothing unusual has happened, but then I don't know what to look out for. Everything seems the same...
