This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
On this week's edition of "The Hal Lindsey Report," I'll discuss Joe the Plumber's impromptu encounter with Barack the Candidate. Actually, it was a friendly, relaxed 5 minute discussion between a citizen and the man who wants to be his president. But if you listen to the mainstream media, you'd think Joe the Plumber lied his way into a private meeting, accosted Senator Obama, then held him in a half-nelson while shouting profane obscenities. News organizations sent teams of investigators and reporters to expose this dangerous impostor who had the temerity to challenge Obama's economic proposals while standing in front of his own house. What nerve! What a threat to the future of the American liberal utopia! Apparently editors across the country were bellowing: "This man must be stopped!"
It's too bad the 'unbiased' mainstream media hasn't put a tenth as much effort into exposing Tony Rezko and William Ayers as they have expended on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher. I have an idea! Let's float a rumor that Osama bin-Laden is a closet conservative and is about to release a new video criticizing the Socialist leanings of certain American political personalities. The press will have him exposed and cornered in 24 hours!
In case you were feeling ignored after the recent rash of mega-bailouts, not to worry. The Congress is standing by to make it all better -- again. They're just itching to launch another 'economic stimulus package.' When Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke told them this week that it might be a good idea, that lit the fire. Even President Bush feels the heat. He's apparently on board with this one, too. So I guess the government can now say, with sincerity (and just in time for the election): "The check's in the mail."
For some reason, the American Left believes that everything in Europe (especially France) is better than what we have right here in the U.S.A. Of course, very few of them are actually moving there permanently, but maybe they should think twice. (By the way, it just dawned on me that Barbra Streisand and Alec Baldwin didn't make good on their threats to leave the country if Bush was re-elected. You can't trust anyone nowadays!)
The President of France recently complained to law enforcement officials that his bank account has been hacked (apparently repeatedly) and money stolen from it. That's right, French President Nicolas Sarkozy. It seems the gendarmes knew there were problems and they've been thinking about coming up with a plan to combat this growing epidemic in the country, but it never seemed quite bad enough to actually do anything about it. Until now. I guess when even the President of the country can't feel secure with his paycheck, it's time to get serious about thinking about doing something.
It's probably a safe bet that President Sarkozy doesn't feel exactly thrilled about the state of French banking security. That may be one of the reasons he's asking President Bush to convene a conference to discuss ways to protect the global economy in the future. Actually, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is proposing the conference to be known as 'Bretton Woods II.' 'Bretton Woods I' was the 1944 gathering that devised the post-WW2 global financial architecture (and created the International Money Fund and World Bank).
The idea for 'Bretton Woods II' is to create global institutions, mechanisms, and safeguards to prevent a future meltdown that might be triggered by an American miscalculation or crisis. President Bush is a bit cool to the idea, as are most of the free-market economies around the world. But the Europeans think that the next administration will be more open to a global system of restraints and oversight. How foggy is the thinking of the E.U? They've decided they want their own Federal Reserve System!
Bible prophecy seems to favor the Europeans on this one. I'll show you how this latest Euro-idea is fitting in precisely with the requirements of Daniel's end-time predictions about the global economy and the man who will commandeer it.
Finally, it seems that President Bush has made a handwritten offer to Syria's Bashar Assad. He's offering to force Israel to surrender the Golan Heights immediately if Syria will sever ties with Iran. This appears to be a last, desperate grab for some sort of Middle East legacy for his administration. On the other hand, it could be simple, well-meaning, but breathtaking naivete. Either way, if he's successful, I fear he's inviting a severe reprimand on himself and our nation from the God of Israel.
