    Default Prayer for father-in-law

Please could you pray for my father-in-law, who suffered a stroke last night. He was taken to hospital, and they are due to do a brain scan today to see how severe it has been. When we left him last night, he had lost all feeling in the whole of the right-hand side from face to foot, and his hearing on that side had gone. His speech was affected and he was confused a lot of the time. The family are naturally very worried, and need prayer too. Thanks

My father in law had a stroke. Massage brought some feeling back to one of his sides.

Dear Loving Heavenly Father, we pray for eddybear's father in law. Please help all in this situation. Please grant healing and peace in this situation. Please give the doctors wisdom.

In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen. Amen

Will certainly pray but will you try to push the medical staff to get him plenty of physiotherapy urgently as mych and as often as is possible. It has been shown that the more is given the better the outcome often is. Even if the patient is not able to exercise themselves it is very helpful to give passive exercise.

Thank you guys for all your thoughts and prayers, it is much appreciated. We saw him again this afternoon, and there are some good things and some not so good things. In terms of his right side, he has regained some feeling, which is good, and the mobility there is a lot better. With help he has been able to walk just a very short distance, but the brain scan showed that the part of his brain that controls balance has been affected, so that is going to be an issue. He is still confused some of the time, but less so than he was. The main problem is his speech, which is all over the place. Sometimes it's OK, and sometimes when he speaks complete gobbledygook comes out. Sometimes that's because he can't physically say the word, (e.g. he knows who I am, but he can't pronounce my name) but sometimes it's because the "wires" in his brain have got damaged so he uses completely the wrong word. e.g. he rubbed his hand up his arm and said he was having difficulty "hearing" it, instead of feeling it. And sometimes he just can't remember the word he wants. He is able to read a bit, but that has been affected, as has his ability to spell, for example we had to help him today to spell his own name, and he can't write. It must be frustrating for him. He was still lucid enough to make his feelings known about our PM though! lol

We spoke to the nurse in charge yesterday, and although it's obviously early days, his prognosis was "fair". Not poor, not good, but "fair". It looks like he is going to be in hospital / rehab for months.

So, some good signs, some not so good. Your continued prayers will be appreciated for him and the family. Thanks again. xx
