    Default haiti

it,s a shame people are being hurt in these end times.

Haiti is a largely Christian country, with Roman Catholicism professed by 80% of Haitians. Protestants make up about 16% of the population. Haitian Vodou, a New World Afro-diasporic faith unique to the country, is practiced by an undetermined percentage of the population. Religious practice often spans Haiti and its diaspora as those who have migrated interact through religion with family in Haiti.[61]

If Haiti has any problem, it is maybe getting too much help. Foreign aid has long been an enabler of the destructive nature of Haitian culture and politics.

Earlier this year, there was a quake of the same magnatude near Indenasia, another 3rd-world spot, killing 79 people. A quake of similar magnatude struck the US in 1989 in a very densely populated part of California, killing 63 people. Most of those died when one freeway callapsed and fell on the freeway below.

There is no excuse for more than a handful of deaths in Haiti.

I find your remarks discusting and uncaring, not suitable for this or any other Christian site. Shame on you !
Col 2:8 -10 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

I agree with you Owen - broke my heart when I saw this.

As the quake hit during school time on Tuesday, many more children than usual have become separated from their parents and are having to fend for themselves on the ruined streets.

Over three million were displaced in the quake

"As well as getting basic supplies in, it's crucial that children struggling on their own are protected from being crushed by more debris and are kept safe from abuse on the streets. This is not a safe place for children," Mr Owen said.

"They are sleeping on their own, trying to cope with the trauma of seeing dead bodies, and will have no idea where to go for help.

"Children mimic adults in these sorts of crises. They see grown-ups scrabbling through the debris looking for bodies, and will try to follow suit.

I know this may seem like a cowards way out, but I have had to stop watching the news because it breaks my heart in two to watch.

I have moved this, I think it more appropriate that we pray our socks off for these people.

The very caring line in Cat's OP is the point he was making Dan.

hope they get the help they need.
    Amen, amen amen !

If you have an ounce of compassion in you, you would applaud Cats very compassionate, well intentioned sentiment.

Lets not turn this into a political discussion or a competition about who is worse off. Little, innocent children and people are suffering on a magnitude we can never imagine. Dear Lord, it breaks my heart in two !

With all due respect Dan this is a prayer thread,,, this is not about political issues,,, this is about praying for the people who are suffering RIGHT NOW at this moment.

Our voices join the mournful songs and prayers
rising above the ruins of the Haitian Capital, Port-au-prince
That you hear the cries of the trapped and the injured
You cradle the dead and the dying
You feel the pain of the grief sticken and the searching
to pour comfort on your children who sorrow and sigh
    Calm all panic and despair
Strengthen the weary hands of rescurers and medical workers
and hasten our response to the poverty and greed
that render so many helpless in the face of disaster
    in Jesus name
    Amen. !
