Default A little boy needs your prayers

Hi friends, I know it has been a while, since I last visited. There is a little boy, named Julio Ceasar Rivera, Jr. (Junior), who is 3 years old. Junior is a sweet and very active little boy. He has a smile that just makes you melt!

Yesterday, we found out that he has leukemia. He is at St Judes Children's Research Hospital, in Memphis TN. We know he is in good hands there. Today, he underwent surgery to remove one of the disks in his back, to see how far the cancer has spread. He is the son, on one of my daughter's friends. His mom, was a regular fixture in our home as a teenager. She is much like one of my kids! Please, keep him and his family in your prayers, and please pray for COMPLETE HEALING, for him.

Thanks so much, for all your prayers. I'll pop in and give updates.

Consider it done. I shall pray for healing for this little darlin and also for strength for his family to cope with this unimaginable pain they must be going through right now

Thank you all for your prayers. (Marcelle19, Gibby gave me permission to add the link to my signature. Thanks for noticing it, and I believe the link is in the webmasters forum as well.)

Dear Friends, Junior, made it through surgery, and had his first round of Chemo Therapy, last night.

Junior, was asking for food, and the doctors said, he came out of the anesthesia asking for chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and green beans. One thing we do know, is he loves to eat! LOL! Up until a month ago, he was a very healthy and vibrant child. Even up until the moments before surgery, he was playful, but hungry! These are good signs!

I am printing out and sharing all your postings with his mother. She is really struggling to understand all that is happening to her little boy. She is dealing with a lot of emotions, which is normal, for anyone who has gone through this with their child. It was very hard for her, to know that the dr's were having to cut open her son, and remove a disk from his back. It was also very painful watching them administer the Chemo, first in shot form, then in the drip. His next Chemo, will be in two days. The doctors also administered steroids.

My daughter, April, was able to go and be with her yesterday, for support. She said that many tears were shed, as she read each person's response to prayer. I ask that you please continue to lift momma Vivian, up in your prayers, that the LORD will give her STRENGTH and COURAGE, to face whatever comes. Also, that she will experience PEACE that SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING. All day yesterday, my grandsons and I prayed, and we talked about their friend, who is very sick. Last night, my daughter was telling them, the new rules for playing with Junior, and when they may get to see him again. All three of the boys are very good friends and neighbors.

Family members are taking care of his younger sister. The father is Catholic. His name is Julio, Sr. We do ask for SALVATION for some of the family members, and for others who have strayed away from their FAITH in the LORD. I also ask for prayers for both grandmothers, grandmother Baker and grandmother Rivera. The whole family has been affected by what this little fellow is going through.

My daughter was talking about little tiles on walls of the hospital, with the names of every child, who has ever been treated at St Jude. The tiles were either in memory of, or in regards to those that survived cancer. She said there were more tiles of those that had survived. The doctors are giving Junior an 80% survival rate, for leukemia. We still don't know the results from the bone that was removed, or how far along the cancer has spread. She said the doctors and staff, have been excellent in keeping them informed, and for the care that little Junior is getting.

Everything that Junior can have, must be sterilized. Any toys, books etc, that is brought to the hospital, must be new and in its original wrapper. If you live in the Memphis area, and want to donate items, please call the hospital, about what types of items that are accepted. I do know, that the quilting leagues of Memphis, have donated many quilts over the years, for the children.

Here is a report about Leukemia, from St. Jude:

Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia ? a modern cancer success story

Please continue praying and believing in COMPLETE HEALING.

UPDATE: The test results on the disk removed from Junior's back, showed that the cancer has spread to all of his bones. The good news is that it has not spread into the spinal column, fluids, or to his brain. PRAISE the LORD! He was weaker yesterday, and didn't feel like eating. Today, will be his second dose of chemo. From what I understand, he will get chemo, every other day, for 15 days, and may get to go home, if the doctor's feel that he is doing well. The chemo, will continue for up to 3 years.

I'm hoping my daughter, April, will get on here, and post more details. She has been very good about giving me updates. I also shared this with our Church, and my daughter, also shared with her church. So, many more people are praying for this little fellow! Friends, this little boy and his family, are on my heart and in my prayers daily. I can't deny just how heavily they have been laid upon my heart. What I do know, is that praying does make a difference. GOD hears our PRAYERS! I believe this.

Please continue to pray for COMPLETE HEALING, for Junior.

Just a little PRAISE REPORT from my daughter:

Quote:
Thank you everyone from my mother and myself for praying for JR after only a little more than a week he is able to come home today. He will still have to go in everyday and get his Chemo treatment every other day but your prayers have helped this family and JR through this tough time. God Bless in Jesus name

Amen.
No one will ever convince me any differently.

Thankyou onetiggerroo for keeping us up to date. I pray everyone who loves this little one will find a tower of strength to deal with what is an unimaginable situation.

Lets also not forget the medics looking after Junior. God has given them a gift and I pray they use that gift to it's full advantage.

To Juniors dear Mother who we know is reading all this, I have a Granddaughter the same age and I can't even begin to imagine the anquish you must certainly be going through now and I just can't put into words how I feel when I hear of a child suffering in anyway.
I pray you find such strength to cope with what is happening right now, to help you to help Junior.
Just wish I could wrap my arms around you.
But you have much bigger arms than all of us put together wrapped round you now. He's holding you close, please believe that.
Take that strength, love and support he is giving you and lean on him. He can take it.

God Bless you and keep you safe Junior darling. I'm holding my breath for you.
But you know what ? I just know something good is going to happen

Right now, Junior is out of the hospital, but he must go there daily, for blood work. The dr's were impressed with how well he is doing, and decided to release him. He gets his chemo treatment, every other day. He's also taking steroids, which is causing major mood swings and anger issues. Mom and dad, are not together. They actually split up about a week before he was diagnosed with Leukemia. The family needs prayers, concerning issues that caused the break-up.

Yesterday afternoon, I was able to visit with Junior! He came down to play with my grandsons. It was nice getting to see him, playing and not in the hospital bed! His mom was exhausted, but in good spirits. He played until he just wore out. He was going for about 2 hours, in playtime! It's hard seeing him have to wear a mask, and knowing he has a tummy lead, that has to be watched, for leakage. The toys will all need to be cleaned after he plays with them, with bleach, so that body fluids (radiation) that may have had contact, are removed. The same with the bathroom fixtures. The hospital sent mom home with plenty of disposable gloves and supplies. Mom wants Junior to play as much as he can, right now. There will be days and or weeks, that he may not feel like playing. The dr's and hospital staff, have given her plenty of information, about what to expect. She really appreciates all the prayers!

My daughter, April, took some pictures, of the boys at play, and Junior in the hospital. St. Jude is an AMAZING place, from the pictures that I have seen.
