Your forum had a mention on the BBC Christian message board yesterday. I am a regular poster there. It was stated that your forum didn't encourage challenges to your fundamentalist view of Christianity, so I thought I would try my luck and see if that is true.

Hi Amused.

I think/hope you will discover that that is quite an unfair assessment as we do have a wide range of views other than fundamentalism. Yes, we do have posters here who take Scripture, word for word quite literally but others who see a problem with it.

I would like to turn that assessment around and say that differing views, while debated and disagreed with, aren't actually " discouraged " persay. The fact that we have a forum here especially for Roman catholism, a forum on world religions, debates with a Muslim, Mormon and even a buddist, show there is no discouragement for debate whatever someones religious or spiritual persuasion, as long as that debate remain respectful and civilized. I like to think we are a tolerant little lot, apart from when Lily has to don combat gear in the RC forum. ( joke, joke ! )

I look forward to hearing you're views.

Lily I notice you mention Roman Catholism as if it were something apart from Christianity, when it is just another version of it. Christianity has so many versions, sects and cults, some are relatively harmless, others like extreme fundamentalism very harmful indeed, if they major on hell-fire and damnation, as I know to my cost.

There are reasons for the separate forum for RC.
Hope these rules laid down by Lampstand help you understand why. By the way, I myself was Baptized and raised RC.

Concerning Roman Catholicism:

We here at Lampstand believe in the Holy Bible as the only authority for our belief in Christ and the source of the truths about God. If you had to give us a label, we would be considered a "reformed protestant" forum. Topics discussed here concerning Roman Catholicism are not necessarily the beliefs here at Lampstand. I created this forum in order for us to learn about what the Roman Catholic Church teaches. Please respect our Catholic members who post in here to share with us about the beliefs of RCC. Feel free to debate; just keep the forum rules in mind.

Catholics: The purpose for this forum is, that in my experiences, allowing RC members to post Catholic Church doctrine in open forums on a protestant site tend to always get out of hand. Feel free to post in open forums topics related to the Holy Bible, Christian life and fellowship. But topics concerning Roman Catholic Church doctrine specifically, please keep in the RCC forum . RCC doctrine that surfaces in open forums will be either deleted, split and/or moved to the RCC forum. The decisions on how each case will be handled is at the discretion of Lampstand staff.
