I was going to post this as a reply to another thread, then thought better of it. Although this song is about the Vietnam war, it can be about any war, past and present really. For the soldiers, from all walks of life, rich, poor, lower, middle or higher class, they all make up the bands of soldiers. All of which give their lives to helping you live in yours with more ease. Without soldiers many of us would not have the ease we have today. I wanted really to recognise soldiers, not only what they went through when serving, but also the aftermath of that. To recognise the memories they must hold in their minds of various attrocities, sights, smells and visions of war, that haunt them.
