So if we cease from out works as God did from his the question is, "how did God cease from his works"? Verse 4 tells us that God rested on the 7th day from his work. How do we rest?
IMO, we rest by keeping a day aside to concentrate on non wordly things (the practicalities of which Jesus covered) Since there were no named days of the week when God rested, I see no reason why an individuals Sabbath cannot be on a Tuesday. Man made days of the week, God just gave us days.

And ,if you truly understood the love of Christ and the Grace of God you would not bring out such statements ,because it is not the Law that stops you committing murder, its the love that has been birthed in you .

The law never saved anyone ,the blood did and Paul did say that the lawis the power of sin .

    Really
I often wonder about this, because I believe we are all capable of murder given the right circumstances, we all feel like it occasionally I would think. Christians can be driven to murder just as anyone else, they can be mentally unstable, enraged, all the normal human things. Christians commit all the sins in some way or another, that is why Jesus came to save us, God knows this.

"Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do" IMO was not just for one day.

You are quite right Canny , but , technically ,yes we can go and "murder"someone and the blood of Christ has redeemed us ,but to use the argument that grace is cheap because it cost us nothing is ridiculous ,because it cost Christ a great deal ,and then to scoff at the price because that is what is done when they cheapen the Grace of God is wrong

CHrist died for all the sin of the whole world ,that has been paid for in full ,all we have to do is believe

This is the position of rest for the born again ,not a day when "work"is forbidden ....that is law

I believe we can murder and be forgiven, what I don't believe is, and I don't believe this of any human,, is "OH great, lets go get rid of X "

You would have to be a bit unwell,, a lot unwell to think like that.

It would be, because to do that, well, there would have to be something a bit wrong with a human.. so that's covered.

If you had been Moses on the mountain, when God handed you the Ten Commandments, you would have replied, "Keep the sabbath? I do not need to do that, I have love."

Liberal Christians often support support abortion, murder, out of "love" for women. Conservative Christians often support murder of Arabs, out of "love" for Jews.

How does "love" stop you from "harmless" sins? How does love stop you from sins with a "greater good", such as robbing from the rich to give to the poor?

I try not to ever lie. It is not love that gives me this ability. It is commitment to the principle "do not lie". Is your love really so great that it prevents you from sinning?

Romans 5:20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more. Breaking the law is a trespass, a sin.

Christians, out of love for God, obay his commands.

Dear Deacon Dan ,Of course I sin, I sin countless times a day ,I dont mean to and when I get up I have no intention to ,but I do and you do ,in fact everyone does .

But that is the point of the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus ,He died for the redemption of the sins of the whole world past present and future

Now you can try to live by the law ,but you cannot ,as James tells us in James 2:10

But we now have justification through the blood and the cross

I know which one I would choose to rest in

Thankyou Onesie, a light has just gone on in my head reading this post.
Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.
