Should the age of consent be lowered?

Why would someone on Christian website ask if the age of consent should be lowered? Sexually active children is not a reason to lower the age of consent, but is a reason to do more to enforce the age of consent. A Christian, or anyone morally grounded, is obligated to believe that there is no such thing as an age of consent for sex outside of marriage. That being the case, the age of consent should be 18, when one is a legal adult and the state no longer has a right (by modern standards) to set an age of consent. Further more, all laws punishing people for "discriminating" based on marital status should be repealed so as not to force people to subsidize non-marital sexual relationships.

There should be no age of consent for marriage, as long as the minors have parental approval and are close in age.

I think the word consent is very important here, its not about waiting, its more about, knowing what you are doing. Becuase, without consent the implications are unthinkable.
