I generally keep an eye on on-line versions of the Telegraph and the Mail, partly because they have good web sites. The Mail does seem to get a lot of interesting stories.

No snow yet though it is forecast for later. But there is a very cold wind. It was actually a bit milder overnight as the car windows didn't freeze up. Not that the latter concerns me at the moment. The car hasn't moved for a week. I've just been walking locally and the shops are nearby. But it's been getting harder to find bits of pavement to walk on that aren't just packed down to very slippery ice.

The council is finally clearing some of the pavements outside the shops where it had become very dangerous. No salt & grit, just men with shovals breaking up the ice.

    No salt & grit,
I have no idea why. Haven't seen much evidence of any gritting.

Try cat litter Steve, it works apparently, although I can't promise you won't get every cat in you're neighbourhood using it

Unless the cats are like one of ours, who sometimes prefers the carpet to the cat litter

My hound STILL does that Eddy

Not every night but a couple of times a week at least. He's let out last thing at night.
I was thinking about putting newspaper down but was thinking that may encourage him into thinking it's ok to go in the house but at least I wouldn't have to disinfect my carpet at least 3 times a week.

Someone suggested cat litter, but can you imagine the mess
