I agree. There is a suspicion that government allows crime to rise so that there is an outcry that something must be done. That allows the government to bring in draconian powers to monitor and control people ostensibly to crack down on crime. It's rather like the curtailing of so many of our liberties under the guise of combating terrorism.

It's the way fascists work whether right wing or left wing ones.

In the United States, heterosexual marriage is practically illegal. It is illegal to "discriminate" against people based on marital status. So, if you want to rent a room, you have to rent it to a cohabitating couple as freely as you would a married couple. The Public Schools train children to not be respecters of marriage. The government taxes married people thousands of extra dollars per year, essentially a fine. The latest insult to the institution of marriage is the government redefining it to a sodomite perversion. The result, fewer marriages, more children growing up without proper parental support, so more children becoming criminals. I doubt the UK is any different.

Big Government prohibits you from promoting your good values. Big government punishes people for living by good values. Big government teaches children to have bad values.

Then when that fruit of Big Government attacks you, you are grateful to the government for watching you.

Britain is not a police state, nothing like one, if you want to see a police state go to China. I have been playing music on the streets for over forty years and have yet to meet a bad policeman. If anything I would say that this country could be a bit harsher and maybe bring back corporal punishment for violent crime. There is more freedom in Britain than anywhere else in the world, that's why people are queuing up and falling over each other to come here.
