    Default Hope

The daffodils are just about ready, and the crocuses are out blooming over the weekend, we have purple and yellow all showing their faces in the sunshine.. The yellow ones have decided to come up just where I wheel my bins, so I have to go around them, they took so long to get there, it would be such a shame to run them down !

I absolutely love watching the birds in my garden, I live in the suburbs and not too far from the river, so the variation can be great at certain times of the year.... My favourite are the Greenfinches, although they are so shy. My table brings, Goldfinches, Greenfinches, Sparrows, Long tailed tits, coal tits, blue tits, great tits, woodpeckers, blackcaps, wrens, dunnocks, blackbirds, and the dreaded pigeons lol, also robbins (which I think I mentioned we get all year round) I have had the occasional RedWing passing through and a goldcrest. If I had the funds, I would invest in a good camera and create a whole room full of my feathered friends !

Today I saw the first sign of hope for these birds, they have had such a difficult winter yet I see for the first time the great tits gathering twigs and leaves, it amazes me that these creatures that weigh nothing at all, come through such times.
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. ....................

    Yeah, I agree.

I was watching a tiny one once, doing his best to fly on seed bag I had left out. He was sat on a branch looking so lost, kept looking at the seed, lunging forward,,, ops,, not going to attempt that,,,looked back, fluttered his fluffy wings, chirped a little. I thought, awwwwh where's his Mummy.
Then I saw this other little head appear from where this little one kept looking back, it was Mummy sat in the other bush. This went on for ages, all this lunging,,, oppsss, not going to attempt that, all this chirping back and fore and I thought, awwwwwh go on Mum, he's hungry, don't be cruel. Then Mummy jumped a little closer and nudged him
Once he'd done it once he was on a roll !

Just made me think that us Parents could learn so much from these tiny things that many take for granted as having no thoughts and feelings. What seemed so cruel at first was the kindest thing that Mother could have done.
It was a lovely moment that I will always remember. So simple and natural, cost me nothing and I got so much pleasure from it

Did I ever tell you about the little seagull my Cousin found ? Brought him home and looked after him until he could fly again, in a rabbit hutch. He called it Steven ( get it ? Steven Segal ? ) and Steven ended up jumping on my cousins hand and feeding from it
Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.

The birds are wonderful things to watch aren't they? I have often heard a woodpecker in my garden but I have only seen it once, it was sitting on top of one of the fence posts. I hardly dare move because I knew as soon as I took my eyes off it it would be gone. We have a cheeky little robin who often flits about and appears to begetting tamer as the weeks go by. Last week I thought I had seen him but when I looked closer it was a chaffinch. You don't see birds looking miserable, they always look happy and always have a nice little song to sing. When it is cold they don't go around moaning, they just fluff up the feathers that God gave them and get on with life. No pantry for them, they know that God will provide for their needs. A lot to be learned from the birds.

I love spring, and all the signs of new life. I looked out the window the other day and saw that our roses had started shooting again, and leaf buds are forming on the hydrangea. It's a wonderful time of year.

But spring can be seen or heard just about everywhere. The birds still sing even in the city, the days get longer and start to warm up a little. Hope is always available to us but sometimes we do not see it - that does not mean it is not there.
