    Default question

On the 1st day God created light, but didn't create the sun until the 4th day. What was the light on the 1st day?
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. ....................

    Oooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooood question

Well, some may not agree but here is my immediate thought on it.

Go back to the basics of what John said in,

    John 1:1

    John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    Then,,

    John 1:5

" And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not "

Jesus is also " The light of the world ".
I think the light source was God himself.

    Great question Canny !

Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.

The city had no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gave it light, and its lamp was the Lamb. (Rev 21:23)

If Jesus is the light, and God created the light - then does that mean God created Jesus?

Surely God and Jesus are one and the same, at least this is what Jesus told us. 'I and the Father are one'
    God's promises never fail

Our God created everything, and he made it good, very good. But trying to force the beautiful poetry of Genesis 1 through a "it must be read literalistically" filter is bound to cause mis-understandings.

Even the most dull-minded person can see that light comes from the sun. So, we have here evidence that the Geneses account is not based on human speculation else the sun would have come with the first light. It is no difficulty for God to create light without a light source, just as he created Adam without parents or the universe without a universe source (whatever that might be).

So Eddybear ,what you are saying is that you believe Genesis 1 is just a piece of Jewish poetry and creation should not be taken literally .

How can you filter something literal

Today is Sunday ,this is a literal statement ,what is misunderstanding about this literal statement

Where is the misunderstanding in taking Genesis 1:1-5 literally ,the light is divided into day and night

This is a light created by God before the sun and the moon

And then in Genesis 1:14 -18 ,he tells us he gives us light let it be signs for seasons ,days and years .

what do we use in the sky for these purpose ,but, the sun ,moon and stars

where is the misunderstanding in taking this literally

    I agree with Lily

Before the creation, there was nothing , emptiness, darkness. When God began The creation, He is present. He goes from the spiritual to the physical

Let there be light is, Is God starting The creation process. It begins with his presents
He is the beginning of creation
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. and he is the light
