    Exclamation Slumdogs.

We are seeing a number of documentary program’s; eg. ‘’Slumming’’, on the slums of Mumbai, following on from the showing of the ‘’Slumdog Millionaire.’’ film.

1)Do the inhabitants of these (& other slums) recognize that they have problems,as seen through our eyes?

2)What of the many possible problems, for the inhabitants can be solved?

3)If we thought that putting pressure on the Indian Government would help them .What could their government do that wasn’t detrimental to their lives & futures.?

4)Is the trite answer ‘’The Gospel’’, not a cop out for the wealthy internationals amongst us.?

May I ask in what form would you present it?

& would this be the first thing you would present to them face to face?

Living carefree in a tropical paradise, surrounded by a million friends? If they would pick up their trash, I would be jealous.

3)If we thought that putting pressure on the Indian Government would help them .What could their government do that wasn’t detrimental to their lives & futures.?
In the west, we would put them all on welfare and move them into middle-class neighborhoods. We would take away their children from them as soon as the children can walk to raise them with the state's values rather than the parent's values (e.g. the Head Start program in the US, and then public schools). Then, we would pretend they are productive members of society.

India does not have the money to whitewash the situation as we would. Even the west does not have the money to whitewash a billion slumdogs nor does India have the middle-class neighborhoods to hide them, even if the money were available. I am sure India is already doing the best they know how to do. These people are being fed and the children are being given an education. The quality of life in India is improving.

"The Gospel" is no more trite than "We need to do meddle."

The Gospel is a call to righteous living and a grand eternal hope. Both of these provide a tremendous boost to quality of life.

The west is an engine of invention that creates things to improve India. The consumers in the west create jobs in India by buying things. Our universities educate their future leaders.

Not a nice term is it ?
Never be overwhelmed by decisions, just consider the right ones and your options will be far fewer.

    D.D.

Thought I would add to what you have said. Hope you don't mind the method I've tried to us here. I don't really think your up to date in world history.

India does not have the money to whitewash the situation as we would.
    ><> ><> must be joking not enough money ?????????????

Having read the comments on this topic I now think that God allows the children of the world to

be especially persecuted so that the rest of us may weep & seek Him for answers or be motivated to get their

own act together. Surely it not to get them;the children to turn from their wicked ways & back to Him, as with the

    children of Israel.!!!!!

    Any thoughts ????
