Default My Health and Fitness... A log? Maybe?

I am overweight. I make no qualms about the fact that I am overweight. For years I was afraid of losing the weight. I was afraid that I wouldn't be "me" any more. Since becoming a Christian I realize that God wants me to lose the weight, eat right, and quit smoking. It's too much to do all at once, and He knows it. So I am taking steps.

Literally. I bought a pedometer. I am going to work daily to increase the number of steps that I am taking and to become more generally active. There are things around the house that I could be doing that constitute activity (and which burn calories). I can go out for a walk on warmer days or to the mall on colder days. I am changing my diet, eating less red meat and working to get fit.

Then I'm going to work on quitting smoking. It's a big battle, but it's one that I know I can win with Jesus on my side.

"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."

It might seem like a huge mountain to you, but God has said that faith can remove mountains. It is too hard for you, but is anything too hard for God? He will give you the grace and strength you need to do what He wants.

My jeans are fitting loose. I hate that I'm even wearing jeans, as I'm very traditional, but right now they are more convenient. One skirt needs a button sewn back on and the others all require very specific blouse/sweater colors to match. Plus I've been doing a lot of housekeeping.

These jeans were tight when I bought them about two weeks ago. Furthermore, by rights I should be bloated (I'm being discreet here) and I'm not.

I'm using the pedometer. It's the first day today so I'm setting it based on today. I'm not using it for exercise *yet* but just for steps. Once I know what I did today I know what to set my goal for tomorrow. Even 500 extra steps a day until I get up to 10,000 is good, right?
