God's voice & the Spirit within me

Dear canny , yes I believe the spirit does work in us as your first sentence implies , but anyone actually hearing the voice of God today is not only incorrect but is in fact unscriptural Hebrews 1:1,2

I am not sure we even know it when it happens, going about our daily business and finding myself drawn to do something or go somewhere seems to occur to me afterwards, because I usually don't want to go or do whatever it is I am being told to do. (does that make sense)

On the occasions I have been nudged the outcome has been relief for someone who was not expecting it,,, Now I am going to have to retract that first statement because I may start to listen and then I will know

Dear Canny so what are you saying here. You seem to say there is no audible voice then ..you seem to be fuzzy about it. If it to me you were saying I can accept, an aye or a nay....sorry Canny..

I don't believe there is an audible voice, I believe there is a feeling that comes that cannot be ignored. Sometimes a dream that cannot be ignored.

Knowing where it comes from at the time is the fuzzy bit

While in agreement with onesiphorus I wish to say to Canny, that if it is within the Word of God it surely must be the Holy Spirits directing you. When you start accepting you will soon see the glory.

I fully accept it is the Holy Spirit it happens so often it cannot be coinidence or any other incidence,,, what I am saying is,,, at the time of the event, it is usually wrapped up with a whole pile of other busy day to day things, it is not until later when there is time to think, or the results of the action are seen , that the event is realised.

Dear Canny do you have some examples( testimony) to share with us....love to hear a few or what you experienced for say part of a day. If you feel it is too personal then it's okay Canny.

It does not appear so from my board flooding lol, but I am generally very busy running about here there and everywhere, when I work ( I attend the elderly of the parish by the way and clean and shop for them) I don't leave my mobile phone on,,, last week I was urged to stop work and turn my phone on, a friend called within a minute, crying asking if I can come. a simple one but I believe an example.

This kind of thing happens to me often, when I am passing someone's house, I am drawn against my will to call in, because I have to be somewhere else. Sometimes I sit in the car and try and make myself move on, but I cant. I always find distress there of some kind and I am given a gift for that time, to cheer them or help in some way.

None of it is great deeds, but I believe I am guided even tho it drives me nuts sometimes.

As far as God speaking audibly or internally, I would never deny either, God is God and can speak any way he pleases, I wouldn't dream of limiting him in anything, Your experience with the old lady Canny moved my wife to tears in the Spirit, If that is not conformation that it was of God, I don't know what is, Jips narrow escapes! I don't think the devil would want to protect you, on the contrary, the one that loves you is God. Gibby's thrill at being moved to give, again a movement of the Spirit to a good and faithful servant. Then there is Roberts hearing Gods voice through scripture, Faith receiving preparation for a demonic encounter and Wabco hearing an audible word of intimacy. I have never heard and audible word from God, but I'm open to to it. He has however spoken to me through scripture and more intimately within. I was once driving over a fell in Cumbria when I was reminded of a photo of my wife Helen. She was 18 and as I had first seen her over 40 years previous. The photo however was in a sorry state, with deep creases that even in places had damaged Her face. I felt the Lord say "why don't you throw it away it's ruined". No way said I, it's the only image I have of her at that time. I felt the Lord say to me that he saw us that way, however damaged we are, he sees and loves us as we were created. Another time, I accused him of not meeting our needs as we had debts that we could not meet. I reminded him of his promise to give us rest, and that because of this debt I had none. He asked me what I needed at that very moment. Well at very moment, all our immediate needs were met. There was coffee in my cup and in the jar, a blazing fire, and coal in the coal-shed, and a cigarette in my hand and tobacco in the tin. so I said, at that moment, I was in need of nothing. He told me that my problem was, that I dwelt in yesterday and tomorrow, but in the very moment where he dwells, there is never a problem. He then asked me how often I had been in this financial state, I answered all of my life, He said your still here. I have since then endeavoured to dwell in the moment and it has changed my life.

what a lovely post - I cant argue about the scripture so I am now unsure about audible or not... I know Faith when I see it tho

You guys keep putting me in a quandry - God can do anything He wants - Scripture says not audible
