| Our testimony is shown in our actions, not always in what we say. I remember a story about an elderly woman, that faithfully walked to church, everytime the doors were opened. She would always smile and greet the neighbors along the way. One day, she didn't come. Another day passed, and still, she didn't come to church. One man, that had seen her walking to that church, year after year, got up off his porch, and went to the church, to find out why she wasn't coming. The pastor, explained that she had passed away. The man was so moved, by her dedication and silent testimony. that he asked, how he could be like her. He found out that her dedication was because she accepted JESUS as her PERSONAL SAVIOR. Soon afterwards, he accepted JESUS as his PERSONAL SAVIOR and followed through with Beliver's Baptism. The old woman, had made such an impact on him, that he never missed another opportunity to be in church, and was a great testimony to many others. He was known through out the communioty as the man who brought others to CHRIST. We don't always understand that how we act, is being noticed, by non-believers. It is through our actions, that the LORD is revealed. The LORD knows our heart, and HE knows, whose heart has been prepared to RECIEVE HIM.

| Great post Susan! I think many times people forget that God has given us the power to BE a witness....not DO witnessing. The two have to walk hand in hand or the second is to non-effect.

| Someone said, "I'd rather see a sermon than hear one." We can preach at people all we want, but it's our actions that will speak louder than any words. If our actions don't agree with our words, no one will can what we say.

| Thank you for all the great comments. I first heard this story, many years ago, in a little church. It is a true story, based on Pastor's own testimony. He told is that we really never know who is watching us, or if someone will be SAVED, and go on to become an evangelist, pastor or missionary. The LORD is busy preparing hearts, and we should be busy serving HM, in every way, including how we act in public and in private; which is an effective testimony. AMEN.

| Here is a poem I wrote some years ago which I think sums up the attitude of churches to evangelism The Island Churches Church 1 The land was lush and green; the saints lay all around Basking in the sunshine from Heaven’s open windows. The waves of sin lapped the shore eroding all the truth And one by one the saints fell off and were washed away. Church 2 The sky was black and “Where was God?” The heavens opened and the rain poured down. In the middle of the island was a grey stone church. No one could be seen. The saints were all inside waiting until the rain went off. Church 3 The storm was fierce and long. It thundered loud, the wind blew hard, The lightning flashed and the sky lit up. I saw the church down by the shore Helping shipwrecked sailors from the cruel unforgiving sea And JESUS was there. G R Higgins I hope you get the picture |
