Gibby, I have the full copy of MS works that includes the full version of word 2002 if that helps. Can send it to you if you want it. It has a legit licence etc, I upgraded to Office 2007.

I heard that any ms office programs older than vista won't work on vista.
So if you're using vista on the machine than you will have to get Office 2007.
If it's xp though that paul's version will work

So if it's vista you should just get microsoft office home and student edition.
Home and student has word which is mainly what you want you said.

I cannot believe that Microsoft did not make vista compatible with older versions of their own software. There should be some kind of law against it !! I am using Office 2007 now. I really like the new 'ribbon' system in word, very nice.

As I understand it- Vista can run Office 03 and 07.

I strongly prefer 03 however. It is much btter than 07's XP Pro Office.

Thanks, but I broke down and purchased 07 for my wife for Christmas. I installed it on our PC and my laptop. I do like it; it took me a while to figure out the new features though. You can make it compatible with 03 too as far as saving documents. I have to do this as all our work computers run 03.

I have a friends who gets illegal copies of everything, he has given me the latest Photoshop, the latest Corel, the latest MS Office. I've got them all in my Software tray but my conscience won't let me load them. I was lucky with Office 2003 because Jesse's band won two copies in a competition hosted by our local town web site and he gave a copy to me.

I couldn't use pirated copies either, streetsinger. Glad I am not the only one. I would love to have photoshop but the price will prevent that and I can't buy a pirated one.
