A how to do it, question

I would like to embed the BIBLE, on the forum that I run, so that when someone posts scriptures, it links to the verses, or chapter, as you have on this forum. How would I do this?

Wouldn't the site have all the information you need to embed the bible on other sites, I have no idea what the site is.

I just don't understand how to do it, or where to get the code to add the Bible in at. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to have access to the file manager and in some cases, the database (which you probably don't if you are at a free forum hosting site).

I think there is a bbcode modification that will help with the bible linking, but it won't automatically link it. I can try and dig it up if you are interested.

I have done so, under Gibby's guidance, on my site Onetigero. but it is hosted as a subforum of Lampstand. I have looked at Forumotion and dont think that the facilities to link in that manner (via BBCodes) is possible.

But if you find it so, and with Gibby's permission, I would be prepared to share it with you.

Thanks IChThUS and Gibby. I am willing to try the code, and see if it will work. I do a lot of BIBLE studies, and feel that this tool would be benificial. I am slow in understanding sometimes...I blame it on age, so please explain in steps, and if you like, pm me the information.

Go into your ACP and create a new bbcode.

Try this bbcode:

[bible={TEXT}]

HTML Replacement:

<a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search={TEXT}&version=31">{TEXT}</a>

Of course you can change the version to whatever you want.

After you do this, you can just wrap bible tags around your bible verses and it will link them.

Thats what I was going to pass on to you from Gibby, Onetigero but I did in the early stages of my development download a forumation version and upon digging it up cant find an area of the ACP where it is possible to access and ammend BBCodes. So it seems to be a dead end.

Thanks Gibby and IChThUS, it may be impossible for me to do, right now, but I am going to hang on to the codes. I do know someone who is familiar with my forum setup, and I will ask him if it is possible, using these codes. It really would be a help for me, if it works. Praying.
