Inherited illnesses/diseases

This was the other point of confusion for me last night...this was actually the initial topic which somehow managed to move onto the disciples one, which i have posted a topic on...

I was being told that Inherited diseases/illnesses in fact do not exist to the point of we 'choose' wether they develop within ourselves, by choosing life over death, speaking life instead of death...

This particular topic disturbed me somewhat as well as confused me..., i've never heard such a cut off stance on it before.

I have several family members who have died from an inherited disease, and live next door to my mother in law because she has one and needs help with these latter stages....she is a believer, and i could not believe what i was seeing up on screen....it was being said that because of her ignorance basically to the Word, that it has invited the illness in...irrelevant to the fact that her father, brother, nephew have already died from it, her other brother is in latter stages, she has it and her other niece now is developing it...it is an obvious genetic illness.

The suggestion was even made that genetic diseases do not even exist that as you put it, its mind over matter! Shocked and confused i was

And how far does this line of thinking go, any illnesses not just inherited ones are brought on by our own lack of faith and understanding?

I was being quoted things like....my people will perish for their lack of understanding, people not knowing to speak words of life into their lives, was what was 'causing' the illnesses to develop....any thoughts?

we do inherit certain generic oddities.... WE DO

those that assume they do have enough faith, do they accept that sometimes its NO, have they yet sat and watched one of their loved ones die because they believed if they pray they will live !!!!... grrrrrrrrrr

God sometimes says no,,, we just have to accept life and death and illness and all things as they are... Someone will get healed,, but why you or me ? God;s choice.

Oh yes, the siezures I've had have definately been mind over matter, The scar tissue on my temporal lobe is defo mind over matter.

What a load of rubbish. The fact that you became so confused is a big give away Inquisitive. I don't know why these people come out with such tripe but it would be interesting to see what their response was if they ever became struck down with illness. The God I know is a God of Love and this is certainly not the way He operates. The advice to stay away from these people sounds pretty good to me. I don't every remember reading in Scripture that genetic illness is a pay back for not having enough faith. What do we do with our children when they need and want to learn? - How much more will our Father in heaven do for us
