Default Superstition- the way of the world.

I have been thinking about this a lot and how we can use phrases, that steer us away from trusting in Christ. Then my pastor mentioned this yesterday and so am going to write a little about it.

Phrases like " touch wood" " keep your fingers crossed " "Lucky and good luck" are phrases that are commonly used.

The following are examples of a form of religion and superstition.

    Its in the cards.
If you walk under the ladder you are unlucky.
If you break a mirror you have 7 years bad luck.
Its good luck to see a black cat.
If you find a four leaf clover then you are lucky.

Yet the word " Good luck " actually means Lucifers blessings.

My pastor mentioned this song and am putting it here. Stevie Wonder says " superstition aint the way!" For its about placing our faith and trust in Christ, alone.

    Jesus said:
" Enter by the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction and those who enter it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. " Matthew 7:12-14

The wide gate that leads to destruction is the many routes that do not lead to God. For Christ is the only route to God, there is no other way.
    He said:
" I am the door. If anyone enters by ME, he will go out and come in and find pastures. The thief only came to steal, kill and destroy but I came that they might have life and have it abundantly. " John 10:9-10

Other routes are other religions, cults and the occult. They are dangerous and invite evil spirits into our lives. They will cause harm, destruction and tragic events. Yet Jesus comes to heal, restore and give us peace, love, truth and life.

Here is a song by Cliff Richard, telling us to beware of fortune tellers. This is funny in a way but also deadly serious. Cliff's song made me think of the harlot of babylon, in Revelation 18 in beware the devil woman, she's gonna get you. No worries though if we trust in Jesus and are close to Him. His perfect love casts out all fears.

Examples of the occult are the ouija board, crystal balls, spells, tarrot cards, palm reading seeing clarvoyants. The list could go on and on.

We all need to place our faith and trust in Christ, alone.

The following is a link that takes you onto a google page (where it says a practical guide to the christian faith). This will show you how to enter a relationship with Jesus.
