That response was the first reference to romance.

But it raises the question - What is romance? When does romance begin to enter?

Before the first date (whatever that is) or after several meetings?

It has been suggested to me (in Private) that the question in my last post was not explicit and open to misinterpretation.
I am inclined from the responses to accept that this is so.

I think I should be told

Let me enlighten you.

Take the senario: A telephone call from me to a lady by the name of Jennifer.

ME: Hi Jennifer. Havn't seen you for some time. How about meeting up on Tuesday morning for a coffee in the Wharfeside Cafe?

JENNIFER: Good to hear from you. Yes that would be nice. How about 11:00?

ME: Great. See you then. Bye!

JENNIFER: Bye!

IS THIS A DATE?
  • If YES does it really matter if Jennifer is a Christian or not?
    • Can I not have a coffee with an athiest without condemning myself to eternal damnation?
    • Previous replies have quoted the scriptures related to unequal yokeing but does a cup of coffee yoke me to anyone?
  • if NO,
    • Why isn't it (a date)?
    • What would it take to make it a date?
It is pre arranged (not a chance meeting) and agreed by both of us.

Perhaps Dave would like to explain what he means by the word his original question. Unless I am mistaken, A date is not the same as marriage.

My response yesterday remains the same I'm only reapeting what the scripture says. Read 2 Corinthians 6:14,15.
There also is the saying be careful what you pray for you might get it. Believe me I can testify to that.

It is very cool this happened. I am not saying God won't allow belivers to marry a no believer if it's in his purpose and will. The scriptures to say to not be unuqually yoked with non believers. I think that if dating or marrying a non believer will lead you away from Christ and into a life of sin, then it is wise not to do it. There are some non believers who will still enecourage their believing spouse to continue in their faith and won't drag them off track. This is rare of course, but it does happen.

In my case, dating a non believer didn't help me. I started to sin sexually with her among some other things. So, I didn't believe this is what God wanted for me so I got out of that relationship. I will not date a non believer again.

Dear Ichthus.
I dont believe that you have led such a sheltered life not to know what a date is.

A cup of coffee can be evangelism.

A date has romantic implications.

Just in case any one is doubting; my son-in-law gave up his architecture for Jesus not for my daughter. He was still an architect when they got married.
